How does it feel?

Patients describe feeling tingling to a snap of a rubber band.

How long do the treatments take?

Depending on the size of the area being treated, it can take from 10-60 minutes per area. A series of 6-10 treatments is the recommendation. You and your provider will be able to customize your plan at your consultation.

Why do I need more than one treatment?

Hair grows in 3 stages - not all of the hair grows at the same stage at the same time.  When you have a treatment, only a percentage of the hair follicles are affected. Usually patients will start to see a reduction after the third treatment.

Is Laser Hair Removal right for me?

LHR is safe for all skin types and most hair colors (except blonde or gray/white hair). Your provider will determine the best treatment for you at your consultation.

During the procedure

Skin irritation, temporary discomfort, redness and swelling are common side effects that usually disappear within several hours.  You may also see pigment changes with lighter or darker skin.

The provider will hold a hand held laser on your skin.  When the laser is activated, a beam will pass through the skin into the hair follicles, which will damage the follicles, inhibiting hair growth.  You may feel warmth or a rubber band snapping.

After the procedure

You may have redness and swelling for a few hours after your procedure.  You can apply ice to help with discomfort. You will need to use a physical sunscreen - SPF 30 or higher daily.
